Wiltshire’s Buying Community hailed by Audit Commission as example of how schools could save £400M a year
In a report published this week, EQC's Wiltshire Schools Buying Community has been singled out as an example of how schools could save £400 million a year if they bought equipment and services more sensibly.  The Audit Commission's report, Valuable lessons, Improving economy and efficiency in schools, highlights the responsibility of Councils to bring about economy and efficiency through collaboration between schools on purchasing. 
 
The Wiltshire case study, found on page 6 of the report, describes how the service brings about such collaboration and also how it 'provides schools with a range of competitive quotations easily and quickly, saving time for school staff'.
